A Day at the CASO 2008 Lost Creek Lake Friendship Car Meet at Stewart State Park
August 18, 2008 by Mark Holm
Vintage, classic, and contemporary cars gathered in the great outdoors with good weather and good friends! Along with lots of great stories about how each one became somebody's pet project.
All work and no play makes Mark a dull boy, so I spent the weekend down with my father in the Medford area and attended the Annual Contemporary Historical Vehicle Association of Southern Oregon's (CASO) Lost Creek Lake Friendship Meet at Stewart State Park on Sunday August 17th, 2008. This year they had a record breaking number of attendees, with more than 325 cars and motorcycles ranging from vintage, to project, to street rod, to just plain unusual. I had a lot of fun looking at all the cars. Being the geek I am, I tried to get a picture of every one of them. Unfortunately, since people were coming and going all day I missed about 40. A completely unsorted album of those pictures I did manage to get, is available on my Picassa album site at this link. Take a look, as there we a lot of really great cars there.
I had offered to create a DVD with all the pictures I took, set up in a slide show with music for a small fee as a fund raiser for the club, but upper managment of the club turned it down. If this is something you would like to see done in the future, make sure that the management of the club knows it and maybe they can find somebody else willing to do it next time and make it a part of their registration package. Just a suggestion...
I still created the DVD as a favor for my father and even included video footage of the award presentation. I thought that overall it turned out rather nice. Although, there were three additional awards that were given in the middle of the award presentation that didn't make the video due to technical difficulties with the camcorder.
If you are were there and are interested in getting a copy of the DVD, drop me a line through our Contact Us page and we can make arrangments to get you a copy. I need to ask for $5.00 Shipping and Handling costs if I have to mail it though. If you are in the Greater Portland Area, we can make arrangments to meet somewhere. Just be aware that this is a completely unauthorized project by the club.
If you like the music on the Slide Show by Kenny Vance and the Planotones, please be sure to see their Web Site and purchase a copy of one or more of their CD's! On the DVD, you are listening to a sampling of 3 of their CDs: Dancin' and Romancin', Lovers Island, and Looking for an Echo. I would like to thank Mike of MGS Sound Technology for making the music available for the DVD!
